Adventure Time!!

I believe that life is an adventure.  Everyday is different, every day has endless possibilities and it is how we approach each day that determines our happiness or lack of.  Now I know that lots of things are out of our control and no, I do not believe that every day has good in it.  Some days are just plain awful! BUT- it is the knowledge that tomorrow will bring new stuff that keeps us going.  My husband and I are approaching our 25th wedding anniversary.  For some that isn't a big deal and for others an impossibility.  For us, it took a major miracle.  Sixteen years ago my husband almost passed away from a rare autoimmune disease.  It took a lot of skill on the part of the doctors and lots of prayer on the part of hundred's of people-some we didn't and still don't know.  Those days are a blur...full of ups and downs, sunshine and rain, but each day that dawned was a new opportunity and brought renewed hope.  This summer has been full days like that.  Meeting people who had their homes ravaged by Hurricane Sandy and hearing their stories of the last few months.  If they had quit after the storm when their homes and towns were a mess, they would never have witnessed hundreds of teen volunteers doing what ever it took to help them.  Two of our dear friends have had children with horrible health issues and car accidents.  Each and every day since May has been a fight, and each and every day a blessing.  The only common thread I can find in all of these days is faith. Faith that when we hit our lows and hit our knees God hears and gives us strength.  No, I don't believe that God will "fix" everything, but every new day is His creation, and when we pray, He will give us the strength to get through it and the next one and the next.  The thing is every one of these days may be the only one we have.  We need to embrace the bad, own our mistakes, and enjoy every little bit of the good, because truly all of life is a gift.  My gift today?  A house to clean!  Enjoy the adventure today!
